Why Volunteer?
Your volunteer efforts allowed the Friends of HPL to donate more than $157,000 to Houston Public Library branches and staff in 2014! This grant went to library-based programming, funding for specially equipped mobile Library vans, and scholarships for HPL staff pursuing Masters in Library Science degrees.

How can I help?

We welcome all volunteers (ages 13 and up) to join us at either our upcoming local Community Book Sale or at our Book Warehouse where we sort through 200,000 books a year!
Volunteer shifts run on the following days:

Tuesday: 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Friday: 9 am to 1 pm
Saturday: 8 am to 10:30 am, 10:30 am – 1 pm
